Casual Leiden demo on permanent contracts
Over the last year, hundreds of temporary contracts have been made permanent. Our campaign, alongside those in other institutions, has forced managers to implement labour law, while also increasing the pressure on unions and employers to put the issue of insecure and temporary work front and centre of their negotiations. These achievements are important. They are the outcome of all of our collective hard work.
Yet, the struggle for permanent contracts continues and Casual Leiden stands in support of those colleagues who are still offered bogus temporary contracts or no prospect of becoming permanent, even when they perform structural work. To stay alert and keep up the struggle, Casual Leiden has organized a demo in front of the Philosophy Institute (P.J. Veth Building, Nonnensteeg 1-3, 2311 Leiden) on March 21, 2023, at 11:30. Faculty and students, join us to show your solidarity!
After the demo, on March 21, Casual Leiden and the FNV have organized a joint informational lunch at 12:30 in Lipsius (Cleveringaplaats 1 2311 BD Leiden) to meet staff interested in becoming more active in the fight for labor rights at Leiden, and provide information on our campaign, activities, and position during the next round of CAO negotiations. Join us if you would like to know more about Casual Leiden and the FNV, and if you would like to participate in organizing for a better University!
